I don'know why you're tryng to give to the words another sense, when you find in the survey the warning "this survey is done without the economical correction", just make a noise. Till that moment don't keep turning the fried eggs, is not nice.

Read on the survey, please: “the educational attainment –how much schooling an individual has completed- is the single best predictor of religious knowledge”.
Please, note the quotation marks. They indicate a conclusion of the survey, not only a opinion of mine.

I don't think so, dear Brennan.
The surveys, if correctly done, have already the request corrections for the economic state of the people who makes the survey.
If in this survey there's a mistake of this kind you can tell to the reuters (not the last editor of the world) and they call their money back frome the agency that makes the survey.
But perphaps, and I think is probably, you're only trying to "girare la frittata", as we commonly says.

Atheists, Agnostics, Mormons and Jews score best for the clear reason that they have more money to attend school than the Hispanic Catholic or Black Protestant.
If you read honestly the entire survey you will find the key to understand when "Education linked with greater religious knowledge" is demonstrated.
The survey concludes that "Educational attainement" is the single best predictor of religious knowledge. It would be also, of course, the best predictor of scientific, philosophic, politic knowledge!
The survey discovers simply, as you say in Italy, "l'acqua calda"!
